PETRO TAR Co. is registered brand name of PETRO TAR KIMIA CO. PETRO TAR Co. Bitumen Refinery producing superior quality bitumen in Grades of (20/30, 35/50, 40/50, 40/60, 50/70, 60/70, 70/100, 80/100, 85/100, 100/150, 160/220) and PURE OXIDIZED BITUMEN or BLOWN ASPHALT (10/20, 85/25, 85/40, 90/10, 90/15, 90/40, 95/25, 105/15, 110/30, 115/15).
Oxidized bitumen, often referred to as blown bitumen or blown asphalt, is a type of bitumen that has undergone a process of oxidation by air. This process involves exposing the bitumen to high-temperature air, which makes it harder and more viscous. Oxidized bitumen is harder than regular bitumen grades and it’s softening point is higher than regular bitumen grades. Oxidized Bitumen (Blown Asphalt) used for various industrial applications like waterproofing, Construction, roofing, flooring, textile, painting, coating, and more.
The main differences between penetration bitumen and oxidized bitumen lie in their production processes and their physical and chemical properties:. Regular bitumen is produced through the distillation of crude oil, whereas oxidized bitumen is created by blowing air through hot bitumen, which enhances its hardness and viscosity. Regular bitumen is softer and more flexible, with a lower softening point. In contrast, oxidized bitumen is harder and more rigid, with a higher softening point, making it less sensitive to temperature changes.
Regular bitumen grades are commonly used in road construction and paving. On the other hand, oxidized bitumen is utilized in roofing, flooring, waterproofing, and various industrial applications due to its increased durability and resistance to temperature fluctuations. Regular bitumen is more prone to changes in consistency with temperature variations, while oxidized bitumen is more chemically stable, maintaining its properties over a wider range of temperatures.
Oxidized bitumen 85/25, 90/40, 95/25 and 115/15 are common grades
Oxidized Bitumen (Blown Asphalt) Due to its special properties like high softening point, increased viscosity, improved durability, high elasticity, water resistance, and excellent waterproofing properties is ideal for waterproofing, roofing, flooring, bituminous paints, automotive undercarriage sealants, construction, piling, basements, insulation, isolation, sound dampening, oil and gas pipe coatings, tunneling, lining, textiles, tile carpets, sealants, joint fillers, coatings, paints, and adhesives
