Iran dates production ups 18% in world in 10 yrs



The amount of dates production experienced 18% growth in the world and 21% in Iran over the past 10 years, advisor to Agricultural Jihad Minister said.


Addressing the opening ceremony of the 5th expert exhibition for dates, Eskandar Zand said that the area under cultivation for dates has increased by 5% in Iran and by 10% in the world.

Meanwhile, deputy head of National Association of Iranian Dates, Ebrahim Pour Heidari told IRNA that 350,000 tons dates worth $300m have been exported during the current Iranian calendar year (started on March 21, 2018).

He predicted the exports volume to reach 400,000 tons.

He added that 30% of Iran dates are exported to Europe, Eastern Asia, Russia, India and Canada annually.
